U.S. to Maintain Military Presence in Eastern Syria, Citing Terrorism Fight
Dec 8, 2024, 09:43 AM
The United States has announced it will maintain its military presence in eastern Syria, citing the ongoing fight against terrorism as justification. Since 2015, parts of Syria's oil-rich eastern region have been occupied by the U.S. and allied militant forces. The Pentagon confirmed that American troops will remain stationed in the region, where the U.S. currently operates 10 military bases across the provinces of Hasakah, Raqqa, and eastern Aleppo.
