Warriors to Trade for Nets' Dennis Schroder, Averaging 18.4 Points, for Melton and Picks
Dec 14, 2024, 09:34 PM
The Golden State Warriors are finalizing a trade to acquire guard Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets, according to multiple league sources. Both players are on expiring contracts and become trade-eligible on Sunday, when the deal is expected to be completed. In exchange, the Warriors will send injured guard De'Anthony Melton and three second-round draft picks to the Nets, while receiving Schroder and one second-round pick. Schroder, averaging 18.4 points, 6.6 assists per game, and shooting 38.7% from three-point range, has been instrumental in the Nets' surprising push toward playoff contention. The Warriors, who remain slightly under the first apron of the NBA's hard cap, sought an additional scorer and playmaker, a role Schroder is poised to fill. The trade increases Brooklyn's second-round picks to 13, while Golden State's decrease from four to two. The Warriors are not surrendering any first-round draft capital in the deal.
