Dec 28, 2024, 08:00 AM
Türkiye's first domestically produced communication satellite, Türksat 6A, has successfully reached its permanent geosynchronous orbit at 42 degrees east after six maneuvers. Launched on July 9, the satellite is set to begin service in the first quarter of 2025 following the completion of testing. Developed with over 80% local components by Turkish companies including ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, TÜBİTAK UZAY, and CTECH, Türksat 6A marks a significant milestone for Türkiye, joining the ranks of only 11 countries capable of developing communication satellites. With Türksat 6A, Türkiye's satellite coverage will expand from 3.5 billion to over 5 billion people, enhancing its global communication reach.
