China has launched the world's first carbon fiber metro train, named CETROVO 1.0, for commercial operation in Qingdao, Shandong Province, on January 10, 2025. Developed independently by China, this innovative metro train features a body constructed from carbon fiber composite materials, making it approximately 11% lighter than traditional metal metro vehicles. The new design allows for a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 130 tonnes per train annually, contributing to more eco-friendly public transportation solutions.
