SpaceX to Move HQ to Newly Proposed City Starbase, Texas; Musk Announces Incorporation Effort

On December 12, 2024, SpaceX officially initiated the process to incorporate Starbase, Texas, as its own city and move its headquarters there. Elon Musk announced, "SpaceX HQ will now officially be in the city of Starbase, Texas!" The company submitted a letter to Judge Treviño requesting the incorporation of Starbase as an official city in the Rio Grande Valley, near Brownsville and the border with Mexico. A special election will be held to decide on the incorporation. This move aims to streamline operations for the Starbase site where SpaceX builds and launches its massive Starship rockets near Boca Chica Beach. Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed support for the decision, stating he is proud to have SpaceX in Texas.
