Trump Appoints Navarro, Formerly Imprisoned Adviser, as Senior Trade Counselor

President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Peter Navarro as his Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing. Trump praised Navarro, stating, "During my First Term, few were more effective or tenacious than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules, Buy American, Hire American." Navarro, known for his staunch advocacy of these policies, played a pivotal role in renegotiating trade deals such as NAFTA and KORUS during Trump's first term. Navarro had recently served a four-month prison term for defying a congressional subpoena related to the January 6 investigations. Trump also remarked that Navarro was "treated horribly by the Deep State, or whatever else you would like to call it."
