HRW Accuses Israel of 'Acts of Genocide' in Gaza for Denying Palestinians Water
Dec 19, 2024, 07:26 AM
Human Rights Watch has accused Israel of committing 'acts of genocide' and 'extermination' in Gaza by deliberately depriving Palestinians of access to water, resulting in thousands of deaths, according to a report released Thursday. The organization alleges that Israeli authorities have intentionally destroyed water infrastructure and cut off supplies, inflicting conditions calculated to destroy part of the population and amounting to crimes against humanity. HRW called on the international community to impose targeted sanctions on Israel to prevent further atrocities. The Israeli government has dismissed the accusations as 'appalling lies.'
