Trump Re-Designates Yemen's Iran-Backed Houthis as Terrorist Organization, Reversing Biden's Decision

President Donald Trump has officially re-designated Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement, also known as Ansar Allah, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), reversing the previous decision by the Biden administration to remove the group from the terrorist list. The White House announced that Trump signed an executive order initiating the formal process to classify the Houthis as a terrorist organization. The move aims to eliminate the group's capabilities and operations in cooperation with regional partners. The designation restores U.S. sanctions on the Houthis, who have been involved in attacks against U.S. allies, including missile and drone strikes on Israeli cities and direct attacks on U.S. Navy ships. The Houthis, backed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, have a slogan expressing hostility toward the United States and Israel.
