Jordan and Lebanon Close Borders with Syria as Rebels Capture Nasib Crossing

Jordan and Lebanon have closed all border crossings with Syria due to escalating security concerns as Syrian rebels advance in the south of the country. Jordan's Interior Minister, Mazen al-Faraya, announced the closure of the Jaber border crossing, the country's only commercial crossing with Syria, after rebel forces captured the Nasib border crossing on the Syrian side. The decision affects both passenger and commercial traffic between the countries. Rebel groups have stated their intention to advance towards Damascus.
