37-Year-Old Iranian Singer Amir Tataloo Sentenced to Death in Tehran for Blasphemy, Sentence Later Denied
Jan 19, 2025, 05:28 PM
Amirhossein Maghsoudloo, known as Amir Tataloo, a 37-year-old controversial Iranian singer, has been sentenced to death by a criminal court in Tehran province on charges of blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad. Tataloo, who was extradited from Turkey to Iran in December 2023, faced a retrial after the initial verdict of a five-year prison sentence was overturned following an objection by the prosecutor. The case was referred to a parallel court, which ultimately sentenced Tataloo to death. However, reports from the Fars news agency later denied the issuance of the death sentence, stating that the final verdict has not yet been issued and that Tataloo has recently been granted legal leniencies.
