Dec 29, 2024, 06:49 AM
A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 737-800 flight, en route from Oslo to Amsterdam, made an emergency landing at Torp Sandefjord Airport in Norway on December 28, 2024, due to a hydraulic system failure. Shortly after takeoff, the crew detected the issue and diverted the aircraft to Sandefjord Airport, approximately 110 kilometers south of Oslo. Passengers reported hearing a hard noise, and smoke was observed from the left engine. During the landing rollout at 19:14, the plane veered off the right side of runway 18 and came to a stop in soft grass. All 182 people on board, including 176 passengers and six crew members, were unharmed. Passengers were evacuated using mobile stairs, and emergency crews responded promptly. The incident caused temporary disruption to airport operations, and an investigation into the cause of the hydraulic failure is underway.
