The decision to bring Elez back came after Vice President JD Vance urged Musk to reconsider, and President Donald Trump endorsed the idea during a press conference. Elez's controversial posts included statements against marrying outside his ethnicity and calls to 'normalize Indian hate.' Musk conducted a poll on his social media platform X, where 78% of nearly 385,000 respondents supported Elez's reinstatement. Elez had previously been granted access to the U.S. Treasury's payment system, a highly sensitive role.
