UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot in Manhattan on December 4th. The suspect, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, was arrested after a week-long manhunt and has been charged with second-degree murder. During his extradition hearing in Pennsylvania, Mangione shouted to media members. Police have stated that Mangione was not a client of UnitedHealthcare and may have targeted the company due to its size and influence. He was found with a three-page letter lamenting the high cost of health care in the U.S. and singling out UnitedHealthcare for its profits and size.
