The American Kennel Club (AKC) has officially recognized the Danish-Swedish farmdog, also known as DSF, as its newest breed, marking it as the 202nd breed in its registry. The breed joined the AKC's lineup this week, making it eligible to compete for best in show trophies at various dog competitions. The recognition is expected to increase public interest in these small, sprightly dogs, a prospect that both excites and concerns enthusiasts. Carey Segebart, a key figure in the breed's recognition, expressed enthusiasm about the development but also highlighted concerns about the breed's rapid popularity growth. The Danish-Swedish farmdog, with origins tracing back centuries in Denmark and southern Sweden, was historically used for rodent control, herding, and as watchdogs.
