Spanish Authorities Seize Seven Tons of Cocaine in Largest Speedboat Smuggling Operation, Arrest Three
Dec 30, 2024, 02:19 PM
Spanish authorities have seized seven tons of cocaine that were stashed in sea freight containers buried underneath a farm in the municipality of Coria del Rio, south of Seville. The operation, which led to the arrest of three suspected smugglers, was initiated after the detection of two suspicious speedboats at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River. The drugs were tracked to a rural estate where they were stored in two underground containers. The Civil Guard described this as the largest seizure of cocaine smuggled into southern Spain by speedboat. In addition to the cocaine, the authorities impounded three weapons, including an AK-47 assault rifle, and two stolen vehicles.
