Jan 2, 2025, 11:50 AM
Agnes Keleti, a Holocaust survivor and the world's oldest Olympic champion, has died on Thursday at the age of 103, just days before her 104th birthday. Born in Hungary, Keleti lost much of her family during the Holocaust but went on to become a renowned gymnast and coach. She won 10 Olympic medals, including five golds at the 1952 Helsinki and 1956 Melbourne Games, making her the most decorated Jewish athlete. Keleti made aliyah to Israel in 1957 and was awarded the Israel Prize for her contributions to sports. She remains the oldest female gymnast to win an Olympic title. Her passing marks the end of a remarkable life of resilience and sporting excellence.
