The Trump administration has launched an immigration enforcement operation in Chicago, with Border Czar Tom Homan on the ground overseeing the efforts. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokesman Jeff Carter stated that the agency began conducting 'enhanced targeted operations' on Sunday, focusing on public safety threats and keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of communities. The operation involves multiple federal agencies, including ICE, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the U.S. Marshals Service. ICE reported 286 arrests and 421 detainers lodged in a single day, with more than 1,400 arrests over two days nationwide, averaging 470 arrests a day.
