Oregon Couple Arrested for Impersonating Firefighters Using Auctioned Fire Truck During Palisades Fire in LA
Jan 20, 2025, 12:44 AM
Two individuals from Oregon, Dustin Nehl, 31, and Jennifer Nehl, 44, were arrested for impersonating firefighters during the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles. The couple attempted to enter the evacuation zone driving a fire truck they had purchased at an auction, claiming to represent the non-existent 'Roaring River Fire Department'. They were wearing CAL-Fire shirts. Dustin Nehl, who has a criminal history including a five-year prison sentence for arson and criminal mischief in Oregon, was found with tools that could be used for burglary, along with a map of burn areas and radios tuned to emergency frequencies. The fire truck was impounded, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department plans to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration.
