Over 30 Killed as Bus Tire Blowout Causes Crash on BR-116 in Minas Gerais

More than 30 people died in a collision between a bus, a truck, and a car on the BR-116 highway in Teófilo Otoni, Minas Gerais, on Saturday. The bus, carrying 45 passengers from São Paulo to Bahia, lost control after a tire blew out and collided head-on with a truck transporting tiles. The impact caused the bus to catch fire, resulting in many victims being carbonized. Thirteen survivors were rescued and taken to nearby hospitals by emergency services. The Fire Department has concluded rescue operations. Officials, including the Governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema, and the Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, have expressed condolences and mobilized resources to support the victims and their families. The accident has led to the closure of the BR-116 highway in the area.
