Heavy gunfire erupted near the presidential palace in Chad's capital, N'Djamena, on Wednesday evening. According to multiple reports including AFP and Al Jazeera, armed men attacked the vicinity of the palace, leading to exchanges of fire. Security forces, including convoys of military vehicles, were deployed to the area, and the attack was repelled. Infrastructure Minister Aziz Mahamat Saleh stated that the situation is under control. The government described the incident as a 'destabilization attempt'. Some sources, including Al Arabiya, indicated that Boko Haram militants carried out the attack, resulting in casualties. President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno was reportedly inside the palace during the attack but was unharmed.
