A powerful earthquake struck the Kyushu region of Japan, with varying reports on its magnitude ranging from 6.6 to 6.9. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) initially reported a magnitude of 6.6, while later updates from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) indicated a magnitude of 6.9. The Japan Meteorological Agency reported a magnitude of 6.8 with a depth of 48 km, and the epicenter was located 11 km ESE of Miyazaki, Japan. A tsunami warning was issued for parts of southern Japan, including Kochi and Miyazaki, following the quake. The tremor was felt in Fukuoka for about 15 seconds, indicating the widespread impact of the event.
