The District of Columbia's Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against Amazon, alleging that the company has been secretly excluding residents of two predominantly Black neighborhoods, Wards 7 and 8, from expedited Prime delivery services since 2022. Despite paying the full Prime subscription price, nearly 50,000 Prime members in these ZIP codes have reportedly received slower deliveries compared to their richer neighbors. The lawsuit claims that Amazon has been violating consumer laws by making these disparities in service, which were not disclosed to the affected customers. The suit was announced on Wednesday.
