Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in São Paulo, following emergency surgery to drain an intracranial hemorrhage. According to a medical bulletin released on December 11, 2024, Lula is reported to be 'lucid, oriented, and conversing,' having passed a good night after the operation. The surgery was necessitated by a fall that occurred in October. Medical professionals have indicated that he is recovering well without complications and is expected to remain under observation for several days. Lula's condition has improved to the point where he can receive visits from family, although he is not yet cleared to return to work. The medical team has stated that he is stable and has no neurological sequelae from the surgery. Lula is anticipated to stay in the hospital until at least next week for continued monitoring.
