Elissa Slotkin Defeats Mike Rogers in Michigan Senate Race, Securing Key Seat for Democrats
Nov 6, 2024, 08:17 PM
Democratic Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin has won the U.S. Senate race in Michigan, narrowly defeating Republican Mike Rogers by a margin of 0.3%. The Associated Press called the race at 3:12 p.m. EST, projecting Slotkin as the winner. Her victory secures a key swing-state seat for Democrats, keeping the seat in their control. Slotkin, a former CIA analyst, will succeed retiring Senator Debbie Stabenow. The race was closely contested, with Rogers initially leading in early returns, but Slotkin overtook him as votes from Democratic strongholds like Kalamazoo and Wayne counties were counted.
