BJP Forms Committee to Investigate Post-Poll Violence in Seven Districts of West Bengal
Jun 17, 2024, 03:23 AM
In response to the ongoing post-poll violence in West Bengal, the BJP has formed a four-member committee to investigate the situation. The committee, led by Biplab Kumar Deb, includes senior leaders such as Ravi Shankar Prasad and Agnimitra Paul. The team has been tasked with meeting the victims of the violence and submitting a detailed report to BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari have also visited the affected areas to assess the damage and support party workers. West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has intervened by asking Kolkata Police to vacate Raj Bhavan following claims that poll victims were denied entry. The BJP's central team is expected to visit several districts, including Cooch Behar, Diamond Harbour, and Sandeshkhali, to gather information and provide assistance to those affected by the violence. The violence has been reported in seven districts, and the BJP team began its investigation on June 16. Mamata Banerjee's government has been criticized for the law and order situation.
