Nevada Supreme Court Unanimously (7-0) Allows Voter ID Initiative on November Ballot
May 24, 2024, 05:22 PM
The Nevada Supreme Court has unanimously ruled 7-0 against efforts by Democrats to block a Voter ID initiative from appearing on the November ballot. The court's decision on May 24 allows the proposed ballot measure, which requires photo ID for in-person voting and an identifying number such as a driver’s license or partial Social Security number for mail-in ballots, to proceed to the signature-gathering phase. Supporters of the initiative need to collect over 102,000 signatures by June 26 to qualify the measure for the 2024 ballot. The ruling marks a significant victory for the group Repair the Vote, which is advocating for the measure.
