Oliviero Toscani, the renowned Italian photographer known for his provocative and shock advertising campaigns for Benetton, has died at the age of 82. His family announced his passing on Monday, January 13, 2025. Toscani had been suffering from amyloidosis, a rare disease characterized by the buildup of abnormal protein deposits in the body, for the past two years. He was admitted to the hospital in Cecina, Tuscany, on January 10 due to the worsening of his condition. Throughout his career, Toscani's work, which often addressed social issues such as racism, AIDS, and the death penalty, earned him both acclaim and controversy.
