DESI Findings Support Einstein's Theory with Precise Test Over 11 Billion Years
Nov 20, 2024, 04:00 AM
Recent findings from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) have provided significant support for Einstein's theory of general relativity. The data, collected by an international team of scientists, confirms predictions of general relativity at cosmological scales, suggesting constraints on modified gravity theories and providing new limits on neutrino mass. This study, which tracked the growth of the cosmos over the past 11 billion years, offers the most precise test to date of how gravity behaves at very large scales. The results have been described as 'mind-blowing' and involved contributions from @BerkeleyLab, @arxiv, @ice_csic, and @desisurvey.
