Mina Protocol Successfully Upgrades Mainnet to Berkeley Version with First Berkeley Block and ZK Programmability
Jun 4, 2024, 02:18 PM
Mina Protocol has successfully upgraded its mainnet to the Berkeley version, marking a significant milestone for the blockchain platform. The upgrade process, which involved the community, testers, node operators, partners, exchanges, and O(1) Labs, was completed on June 5, 2024. The Berkeley upgrade includes several key features such as general-purpose zero-knowledge (ZK) programmability on the mainnet, which prioritizes truth, reduces costs, preserves privacy, and ensures verifiability on any device. The first Berkeley block was created, bringing Mina closer to its vision of 'Proof of Everything.' This upgrade also establishes Mina as the first succinct settlement and interoperability layer for ZK rollups. The milestone was reached at approximately 14:00 UTC and 20:00 UTC, following the successful completion of Testworld Mission 2.0.
