Official endorsement announcements by major California newspapers
LA Times, California's Largest Newspaper, Won't Endorse Kamala Harris for President in 2024
Oct 22, 2024, 06:31 PM
The Los Angeles Times, the largest newspaper in California and Kamala Harris's home state, has announced that it will not endorse a presidential candidate in the 2024 election. This decision, made by the paper's owner Patrick Soon-Shiong, marks the first time since 2008 that the LA Times will abstain from endorsing in a presidential race. Historically, the newspaper did not offer endorsements from the mid-1970s until 2008, when it began supporting Democratic candidates, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Joe Biden. The LA Times has previously endorsed Kamala Harris for California Attorney General, U.S. Senator, and on the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020.
