Water Frost Discovered on Mars' Equator for First Time on Tharsis Volcanoes
Jun 10, 2024, 04:02 PM
Scientists have made a major breakthrough by discovering water frost on Mars' equator for the first time, a region previously thought to be impossible for frost to exist. The frost was observed on the peaks of tall, ancient Martian volcanoes, including the Tharsis volcanoes, which are the tallest in the solar system. This discovery was made through observations from ESA's ExoMars and Mars Express missions on cold mornings. The findings were reported in a study published in Nature Geoscience.
