Explosion at Grozny Gas Station Kills Four, Including Two Children; Five Injured
Oct 12, 2024, 02:17 PM
A powerful explosion occurred at the Lider gas station on Muhammad Ali Avenue in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, on October 12, 2024. The blast resulted in the deaths of four people, including two children aged 5 and 6. The explosion caused a fuel tank to be launched into a nearby residential area, crushing a parked car. At least five people were injured, including a mother and child hit by a gas cylinder. The fire continued to burn with reports of new explosions. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gas station failed to meet basic safety standards, with Rostekhnadzor's 2021 inspection citing nine violations. EMERCOM workers have already put out the fire.
