Third Alleged Assassination Attempt: Armed Man Arrested Near Trump Rally After Threat to "Kill the President"
Oct 13, 2024, 08:28 PM
An armed man, identified as 49-year-old Vem Miller from Las Vegas, was arrested near former President Donald Trump's rally in Coachella, California, on Saturday, in what officials described as a potential third assassination attempt against Trump. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported that Miller allegedly expressed intent to "kill the president" and was found in possession of multiple illegal firearms, including a loaded handgun and a shotgun with a high-capacity magazine. Sheriff Chad Bianco stated that authorities "probably stopped another assassination attempt." Miller attempted to enter the rally using fake VIP and press passes. He was detained at a security checkpoint and later released on $5,000 bail. Miller is scheduled to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on January 2.
