Samourai Wallet Founders Arrested for Laundering $100M, $2B in Illegal Transactions
Apr 24, 2024, 08:58 PM
U.S. authorities have arrested Keonne Rodriguez in Pennsylvania and William Lonergan Hill in Portugal, the founders of the cryptocurrency mixing service Samourai Wallet, on charges of money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. The Department of Justice alleges that the service facilitated over $100 million in money laundering transactions and executed more than $2 billion in unlawful transactions. Hill is expected to be extradited to the U.S. The FBI, IRS, and other partners were involved in the arrests, which also included the seizure of the Samourai Wallet domain.
