34-Year-Old Australian Woman Charged With Torturing Baby Using Unauthorized Medications to Solicit $60,000 in Donations
Jan 16, 2025, 12:30 PM
An Australian woman, aged 34, has been charged with torturing a one-year-old girl by allegedly administering unauthorized medications and posting videos of the child in 'immense distress and pain' to solicit donations and increase her online following. The woman, who has not been named, was arrested in Underwood, Queensland, by Queensland Police and faces multiple charges including five counts of administering poison with intent to harm, three counts of preparation to commit crimes with dangerous things, and one count each of torture, making child exploitation material, and fraud. The incidents occurred between August 6 and October 15, 2024, and were uncovered when hospital staff in Brisbane reported their suspicions to the police in October. The child, who was hospitalized due to a serious medical condition, tested positive for unauthorized medications. The woman allegedly raised over 60,000 Australian dollars through fraudulent GoFundMe donations. She is scheduled to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday. The child is now reported to be safe and well.
