NATO, G7 Pledge Seven More Patriot Systems to Strengthen Ukraine's Air Defense
Apr 19, 2024, 08:48 AM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during discussions with EU and NATO leaders, emphasized the urgent need for enhanced air defense capabilities to counter Russian military aggression. Germany, under Chancellor Olaf Scholz's urging, has committed to sending seven additional Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, a move supported by other EU countries. Concurrently, the G7 and NATO have expressed a unified stance to bolster Ukraine's air defenses, with specific commitments from NATO countries to provide advanced systems like Patriot and SAMP/T, and the G7 identifying specific steps to aid Ukraine. This collective response aims to protect Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure from ongoing Russian attacks, while also addressing the need for 155mm shells.
