Report Finds Trump White House Controlled 2018 FBI Investigation into Kavanaugh Sexual Assault Claims
Oct 8, 2024, 05:00 PM
A congressional report has found new evidence indicating that the Trump White House tightly controlled the 2018 FBI investigation into sexual assault claims against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. According to the report, messages sent to the FBI tip line regarding Kavanaugh were forwarded directly to the White House and were never investigated. The FBI had no written protocols for the supplemental background investigation ordered by the White House. The report, released by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, suggests that the Trump administration did not authorize the FBI to independently probe the assault allegations. The findings were documented by Beth Reinhard.
