An internet cable between Finland and Sweden has been cut in two locations on land in Finland, causing disruptions to telecommunications and internet services affecting around 6,000 households. Finnish authorities are investigating the incident, but Finnish police have stated that they do not suspect a crime at this stage. Finnish telecom company Elisa reported that the damage occurred during normal construction work. Swedish authorities, including Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin, are taking the matter seriously and have been informed of the situation. This incident follows previous damages to underwater communication cables in the Baltic Sea region in recent months, raising concerns about the security of critical infrastructure.
