HPE to Build Next-Gen Generative AI Supercomputer for Japan's AIST as Cloud Service

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced plans to deliver a next-generation supercomputer for Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). The supercomputer, designed for generative AI, will be powered by NVIDIA's H200 Tensor Core GPUs and interconnected by NVIDIA Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking. The system will be built using HPE Cray XD systems and will be offered as a cloud service to public and private organizations in Japan. This initiative is part of Japan's push towards Sovereign AI, utilizing thousands of H200s.
