U.S. Troops Enter Kobani, Raising Flags and Taking Control of Former Russian Bases in Sarrin and Ayn Issa

U.S. troops have entered the Kurdish-controlled city of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) in northern Syria, taking over former Russian military bases. A convoy of Oshkosh M-ATV armored vehicles and U.S. military SUVs was seen entering the area, which includes bases in Sarrin and Ayn Issa. The transition comes after Russian forces recently withdrew from these locations. Following the arrival of U.S. forces, American flags were raised on several buildings in Kobani, including those under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the People's Protection Units (YPG). The U.S. military is now tasked with protecting the Kurdish population in the region from potential threats, particularly from Turkish forces and associated groups. This move marks a significant shift in the U.S. military's presence in northern Syria, reinforcing its commitment to supporting local Kurdish forces.
