Russia's Christmas Missile Strikes Hit Ukrainian Cities, Energy Infrastructure Targeted
Dec 25, 2024, 04:49 AM
On Christmas morning, December 25, Russia launched a massive missile attack across Ukraine, targeting cities including Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, and Kryvyi Rih. The attacks involved ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles, including Kalibr missiles launched from the Black Sea. Multiple explosions were reported, with over 13 in Kharkiv, 12 in Dnipropetrovsk, and about 5 in Kremenchuk. The strikes caused widespread power outages and damage to energy infrastructure, prompting Ukraine's energy operator Ukrenergo to introduce emergency power outages. Multiple fires broke out in Kharkiv after the strikes, and at least three people were injured, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov. Air raid alerts were declared throughout Ukraine, and Ukraine's Energy Minister Galushchenko stated that Russia is massively attacking Ukraine's energy sector.
