Jeju Air Black Boxes Stopped Recording 4 Minutes Before South Korea Crash That Killed 179
Jan 11, 2025, 07:03 AM
South Korea's transport ministry announced that key data is missing from the black boxes of the Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 that crashed at Muan International Airport on December 29. The flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder stopped recording four minutes before the aircraft hit a concrete structure during an attempted emergency landing. The crash resulted in the deaths of 179 of the 181 passengers on board. The damaged black boxes have been sent to the United States for analysis as investigators seek to determine why the recorders ceased functioning before the crash.
