Turkey has strongly condemned Israel's decision to expand illegal settlements in the Golan Heights, which Israel has occupied since 1967. The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing grave concern over this move, describing it as a new phase in Israel's goal to expand its borders through occupation. The ministry highlighted that this decision, combined with Israel's recent incursions into the demilitarized zone and airstrikes in Syria, seriously undermines efforts to bring peace and stability to the region. Turkey called on the international community to take appropriate measures against the Netanyahu government's illegal activities. The condemnation comes in the wake of Israel's plan to invest over $11 million to expand settlements in the Golan Heights, a move that has also been criticized by other nations including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. The UN considers these settlements illegal under international law.
