Biden Announces U.S. Strikes 75 ISIS Targets in Syria with B-52s and F-15s

On December 8, 2024, U.S. forces conducted dozens of precision airstrikes targeting ISIS camps and operatives in central Syria, specifically in the Deir Ezzor province. The operation struck over 75 targets using multiple U.S. Air Force assets, including B-52 bombers, F-15 fighter jets, and A-10 aircraft. President Biden announced the strikes, stating, "We are clear-eyed about the fact that ISIS will try to take advantage of any vacuum to reestablish its capability, to create a safe haven." He emphasized that the U.S. aims to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS and prevent the terrorist group from regrouping amidst Syria's instability. General Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), vowed, "We will hold them accountable." According to CENTCOM, there are no indications of civilian casualties from the airstrikes.
