Biden Expands ACA to 100,000 DACA Recipients, Rule Out Friday
May 3, 2024, 10:12 AM
President Joe Biden's administration has finalized a policy to expand access to federally subsidized health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers, who were brought to the U.S. as children under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This move, addressing a sensitive issue ahead of elections in November, is expected to benefit approximately 100,000 DACA recipients, allowing them to receive health care coverage for the first time since the program's inception over a decade ago. The policy, aimed at providing affordable and quality health care, includes provisions for taxpayer subsidies to buy insurance on the ACA's markets and will be officially released on Friday.
