NYC's Operation Padlock Begins Tuesday, 20 Illegal Cannabis Shops Inspected

New York City has launched a major crackdown on illegal cannabis shops with the initiation of Operation Padlock to Protect, which started on Tuesday. This citywide operation, empowered by recent state legislation, aims to shut down unlicensed cannabis stores. The enforcement action, supported by Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul, involves the NYC Sheriff's Office and NYPD, which have already inspected at least 20 shops across the five boroughs. The operation follows a press conference where the tougher state law was highlighted, making it easier to close these shops. A NYC Sheriff branded lock was used in the raids.
