Mossad's "Pager Plot" Sold 16,000 Explosive Devices to Hezbollah, Agents Reveal
Dec 23, 2024, 06:02 AM
Two retired Mossad agents, known as "Michael" and "Gabriel," have revealed details of a decade-long operation, dubbed the "Pager Plot," in which Israel's spy agency sold over 16,000 explosive pagers and walkie-talkies to Hezbollah militants. In an interview with Lesley Stahl on CBS News' "60 Minutes," the agents described how the Mossad created shell companies and fake advertisements, even posting YouTube videos, to trick Hezbollah into purchasing devices embedded with explosives. The devices were manufactured through a Taiwanese company, Gold Apollo, and were designed to harm only the user, minimizing collateral damage. The operation culminated in September 2024, when the devices exploded, resulting in the deaths of approximately 30 people, including two children, and injuring around 4,000 Hezbollah operatives. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah reportedly witnessed his operatives collapsing next to him as the devices detonated in his bunker. The agents stated, "We create a pretend world. We are a global production company. We write the screenplay. We're the directors. We're the producers. We're the main actors. The world is our stage." The Mossad agents claimed that the operation significantly weakened Hezbollah and Iran's regional influence, leading to a ceasefire in the north and isolating Hamas.
