Israel Needs US Help to Strike Iran’s Nuclear Program, Says Ex-PM Ehud Olmert
Oct 7, 2024, 01:01 PM
Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has stated that Israel would require assistance from the United States to effectively target Iran's nuclear program, which is distributed widely and buried deep underground. According to a US defense official cited by Sky News Arabia, only Washington possesses the necessary air capabilities, including heavy bombers and bunker busters, to destroy Iran's deeply buried nuclear facilities. While Israel has some of the capabilities needed for such an operation, the geographical complexity of the sites makes US involvement essential. The Pentagon informed Israel of its assessment on the strike. Tehran, already paranoid following Israel's actions against Hezbollah and intelligence penetration of the IRGC, is expected to retaliate if its nuclear facilities are attacked.
