Israeli Strike at 3 am Hits Hasbaya, Killing Three Sleeping Journalists from Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar
Oct 25, 2024, 07:31 AM
An Israeli airstrike early Friday morning around 3 am hit a compound housing journalists in Hasbaya, southern Lebanon, killing at least three journalists and injuring several others, according to Lebanese media reports and officials. The compound was known to house 18 journalists from seven outlets covering the conflict, and vehicles marked 'PRESS' were reportedly destroyed in the strike. The victims included staff from Lebanese TV channels Al-Mayadeen and Al-Manar, including cameraman Ghassan Najjar, technician Mohammad Reda, and photographer Wissam Kassem. Lebanon's Information Minister, Ziad Makary, condemned the strike as a deliberate attack on the press and a war crime, describing it as an 'intentional targeted assassination'. The attack occurred while the journalists were asleep.
