India's wholesale price index-based inflation rose to 2.61% in May 2024, marking a significant increase from 1.26% in April, according to government data. This rise represents a 15-month high, driven by higher prices in food articles, crude petroleum, and other manufacturing sectors. The increase in primary articles and food prices contributed to this uptick, with primary articles seeing a 7%-plus increase from about 5% in April.
